Two Blogs Instead of One

I decided it was time to separate my two loves:  photography and crochet/crafting.

My photography blog is located at and my crochet/crafting blog is located at  I'm hoping this will make things easier for me, as well as my followers.  Cheers!

Life has these crazy busy stretches of time.  Well, I've come to the close of a two week long stretch.  I only have a hand full of things to do this week and can finally take a little breather.  Being a work-at-home-mom is still not a natural thing for me with respects to a balanced schedule.  I really need to get a handle on this or I'm going to drive myself crazy ;P

I've really missed doing some of the photo challenges that I use to participate in all the time, in conjunction with doing the 365 project throughout 2011.  I so wanted to start back with Scavenger Hunt Sunday but it just didn't happen this week.  I'll print off the prompts for the coming week and hopefully complete it this time!

Of course, if I wasn't involved in so many things......but then I'd be bored, lol.  I took 2011-2012 off from dance classes and really missed it so am taking tap and a combo class this year.  (I really really miss Miss Julie's Liturgical class but at least I'm dancing again.)  My husband and I are a part of a community choir that will present a program this Christmas so have practices once a week.  We used to sing in a choir at our old church before the kids came a long and its a little like old times, I love it!  I am also learning to be the "sound person" at our church, talk about a huge learning curve.  I also want to get back into my crochet.  I'm itching to make my first afghan and also some Christmas presents, too.  Today, I started a new handbag because all my bags are either really big (so I can lug my camera and gear around) or very small (pre-dslr camera days).  I also started running over the summer because I'm in my 40s and can't ignore the getting older part of life.

None of those have anything to do with my photography though.  I did my first senior photo shoot this fall and took a crash course on Camera RAW to edit said photos.  It was a little stressful but for some reason I work better under pressure (or maybe I'm a horrible procrastinator.....yeah, probably that ;).  I also helped as an assistant photographer at a wedding in September.  I didn't really ever plan on photographing weddings (so much pressure to not miss those important moments) but was just supposed to do candid shots so thought I better at least give it a shot, in case I found I actually enjoyed it.  No, I now know weddings are not a good idea for me, and we'll leave it at that.

Food Photography on the other hand.......I love it!  But.  I really need to get a better handle on my schedule and deadlines.  I not only photograph the food, I have to buy all the ingredients, prepare ingredients, cook/bake the food, and then style the food.  Its quite the challenge and I really enjoy it.  My dish and table linen collection continues to grow and I need to better organize it for easier access.  Oh, and having a larger kitchen would make things a whole lot easier but I digress.....

I've been enjoying my time not having to take a picture every day. I set crochet aside for the most part last year but can now be more balanced between the two.

I surprised my good friend, Kerri, with this handbag on Saturday.

She loves it and I love that she does! Being able to create/give things to my friends/family is a great feeling. For Christmas, I made mug cozies for some family members and they seemed to really like them. My brother-in-law, Kevin, even used his shortly after opening the gift, "To try it out." :)

I did take photos last week, during a snow storm. There were a few lulls in the storm which was good, it was cold. Yeah, I did have thoughts of how crazy I was but it felt right to be outside.

I also got some fun shots of the moon and some ducks flying overhead, right before sunset the other day.

I hope you are enjoying the new year as much as I am!

Ps. A lot of my shots are still linked from the 365 Project page because I'm still hanging around over there. I've found it to be a great community of photographers; novice, amateur, and professional. They're all such an encouragement to each other and give advice/tutorials to help one another. How could I leave that?!

My daughter and a friend had a sleepover, and a mini fashion shoot. They both got fun winter hats and made them part of the show.

I liked so many of these I just had to post two of them :)

(I did take over 40 shots on the 31st but they weren't that great focus wise. Chalk it up to some silly girls making me laugh too much.)

My final 365 shot!!

Thank you to all of my followers and those who have commented on my shots. Its because of 365 that I'm making money from my photography.

Thanks again everyone :)
